Joel is focused on his customers’ needs and doesn’t rely on machines, technology or computers to forge relationships. His early work in the public relations and advertising industry taught him the importance of adding a personal approach to business relationships—something he continues to believe in strongly today. “The personal touch is very important,” Joel says. “I’ve learned how to be responsive and quick and, at the same time, follow-through by dotting my Is and crossing my Ts.” In addition to his business responsibilities, Joel volunteers his time in the community and is past president of Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas. > top After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Craig spent several years working in the accounting and tax field before joining his father and brother Joel in the recycling business at Daltex Waste Material Co. in the late 1980s. In addition to using his accounting expertise, Craig works with Joel to carry out all aspects of the business including sales, marketing, logistics, business strategy and production. “I have always been very active in sports, and realize there are many similarities between teams and businesses. Both require strong leadership to be successful,” Craig says. “Business is a team sport. It’s a passion that Joel and I share.” Craig coached girls’ soccer for eight years and learned a thing or two about how a person can lead a team to victory. He is originally from Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Dallas in 1972. > top Sherrie Lynn McBurney
She started her selling and marketing career at age 12, helping her parents publish an Oil Field Directory Service in Corpus Christi. She later had a Legal Education seminar company in Phoenix, and was the first to tie that industry to sponsorships in the non-profit field. With both grandfathers having careers in law enforcement that date back to the “trail drivers” days, Sherrie Lynn believes she is at home working with Action Shred of Texas to prevent identity theft and fraud in the Metroplex. Among her favorite activities are fishing, rock hounding, camping, walking her schnauzer Vinnie and playing string instruments. “I love music and enjoy concerts and opera with my sons and visiting books stores as often as we can,” she says. “My sons are the best part of my life, and that’s why I want to make this earth a better place for their future.” > top Bethany Valmores
“The quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. sums up my positive style,” Bethany says. “The quote reads ‘I find the greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as is what direction we’re moving.’ “ Bethany enjoys soccer, yoga, and “shopping of course! In my spare time I spend time with my family, and Sydney, the best dog ever! I would love to see the Oakland Raiders have a winning season. My weakness is Starbucks and my favorite food is cheese.” > top Veronica Amador Veronica Amador has a smile that can be seen through the telephone. As the customer service representative for Action Shred, her responsibilities include truck scheduling, customer follow-ups, account receivable billings and whatever else needs to be done. And it’s all done with a smile that’s easily conveyed to Action Shred’s customers by phone. “The customer-vendor relationship is key to any company’s growth, and I want to make sure our customers’ needs are met. If that can be done with a smile or a special pick-up, I’ll do it,” she says. Veronica has been with Action Shred from its outset, and has been involved in the design and implementation of the company’s systems. Away from Action Shred, Veronica enjoys spending time with her family, movies, shopping and her pet Cesar, the family’s new chocolate-colored Lab. > top
